YUL Servo was known as a shy actor when he started in show business. Now, he’s a very active public servant. For those who don’t know, Yul (or better known as John Marvin Nieto to his constituents) is the current congressman of the 3rd District in Manila. Despite his hectic schedule for his fellow Manileños, he still can’t leave his first love: Acting.
Yul is under Production 56, Inc., a production house and talent company owned and managed by multi-awarded film and television director Maryo J. Delos Reyes. Actors who are part of the said talent company are Miggs Cuaderno, Nash Aguas, Masculados, Leandro Baldemor, Ruru Madrid, Orlando Sol, Neil Ryan Sese, Trio Tagapayo, Xyruz Cruz, John Raspado, Romano Vasquez, Barbara Miguel, Will Ashley De Leon, and Nafa Hilario Cruz.
Since he started as an actor, he received several awards and nominations from various award-giving bodies, here and abroad. He grabbed the Best Actor award from Cinemanila International Film Festival 2001 for Lav Diaz‘s Batang West Side, the Best Supporting Actor Awards from Cinemalaya 2008 for Brutus and from Film Academy of the Philippines 2011 for Rosario. He also had multiple Best Actor awards in Brussels International Film Festival for Batang West Side (2001), Naglalayag (2004), and Brutus (2008).
Last August 2017, he was one of the casts in Kiko Boksingero, which won the hearts of many movie-goers. Koko Boksingero was one of the finalists in Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
Last night, December 5, Congressman Yul Servo and the company with the Production 56, Inc. headed his manager, Director Maryo J. Delos Reyes tendered a thanksgiving dinner and early Christmas party to the members of entertainment press in Anabel Restaurant in Quezon City.
