THE Filipino Channel (TFC) brought holiday cheers to our beloved OFWs in the Middle East. Two early Christmas events happened in Al Khobar and Jeddah in the first week of December.
The first event is the 23rd Filipino Community Day (FCD) held in Al Shola Beach Resort Tourist Village, Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia. It’s an annual event held by the Pinas-SAHI International Association, Inc., the largest and most active Filipino organizations in the region. Dance Heartthrob Enchong Dee and well-loved comedian Chokoleit were the guests of the event, and also to celebrate over two decades of PINAS-SAHI as well as of honing talent via Star Magic 25 Fans Day.
Enchong sang his iconic hits Chinito Problems and ‘Di Ko Alam. He also sang his own rendition of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk. Meanwhile, Chokoleit took care of the comedy that day.
PINAS – SAHI President Ed Cataluna is grateful that the event continues to be a much-anticipated event and TFC, a perennial partner since 2005. “We created this event to bring fun and bring all Filipinos in the Eastern province all together. Since then kasi, parang naging part na ito ng tradition nila sa mga Filipino sa Eastern province. It is our pleasure to see them enjoy the very moment, by bringing our artists. We find pleasure in seeing them enjoy.” He said.
The second event happened on December 2, Saturday at the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. True to the event’s tagline, “Ultimate Fan Saya”, the event did not only showcase the world-class Filipino talent but also our community spirit or bayanihan. Enchong and Chokoleit continued to entertain our modern-day heroes.
After that, the Philippine Consulate recognized Saripada Dawood Balindong for saving a Saudi national even while locals cautioned him on his safety and assured him that help was on its way.
ABS-CBN Middle East Officer-in-Charge Joseph Arnie Garcia was proud to share that the partnership between TFC, PINAS-SAHI and the Philippine Embassy in Jeddah remains as strong and continues to make history in each installment. “I’ve been with ABS-CBN Middle East for most of its years of service and I can say that I personally witnessed that no matter how different each year’s offering was, the warm reception continues, and I must say, keeps on growing. We thank our kabayans (fellowmen) and all our dedicated partners for the trust and support and assure you that ABS-CBN shall always be the vanguard in serving our modern-day heroes in the Middle East”.
