The TRIUMPH of the ARTS. Contra Mundum! LARAWAN wins Best Picture. Congratulations. I wish I’m in Manila so i can bring out all my TBT pictures as Tony Javier to the Devine Celeste Legaspi’s Candida and Coloratura Noemi Manikan Gomez’s Paula in the 90’s, that was 20 years something agow 😀 from my Baul as a tribute to all my co-theater Actor friends who were part of the cast and production of this adaptation, and IN HONOR OF NICK JOAQUIN 🙂 In our Re-run, I remember I played Tony Javier to Alicia Alonzo’s Candida and Vivian Velez’s Paula. Both of these productions were directed by Nonon Padilla in my Tanghalang Pilipino days at the CCP. Long Live Larawan! Congratulations to my Maestro @ryancayabyab @showbizmanila @racheljalejandro @dennisnmarasigan @zsazsapadilla and to @joampil who bagged the Best Actress Award. @heneral.luna #goyo

A TRIBUTE to Larawan. I am so honored to share the memories of the seasons I essayed one of the most Challenging and prime Male Roles that an actor could play in Philippine theater (CCP). The complex Tony Javier character (in Nonon’s portrait) born in National Artist Nick Joaquin’s imagination was a Dream role fullfilled. Being entrusted by my mentor Nonon Padilla 20 something years ago to breath in Tony’s world is like a whole course in Acting. I was Tony to Celeste Legaspi’s Candida and Noemi Manikan Gomez’s Paula, then to Alicia Alonzo’s and Vivian Veles’ on our re-runs. With great respect, I praise all the cast and crew of the Larawan adaptation. It must be a splendid journey mounting such a masterpiece together with all the talented artists who were part of the production. mabuhay ang Sining.
