WHO is Alynna Velasquez?

She was part of The New Minstrels (5th Generation)before she dove into the novelty genre of songs.

Kinky. Naughty. Titillating.

Kahit Gaano Kalaki” (Ang Aking Pagmamahal) and “Pasumpa-Sumpa,” (Ngunit Ikaw Pala’y Sinungaling) became big hits. But after a while, Alynna decided to take a breather.

She felt nobody’s taking her seriously. So, she packed her things to look for greener pastures doing shows abroad.

Fast forward to the present.

She inked a 3-yr contract with Anna Goma‘s Managerial Company, The Powehouse Arte, Inc., handling the careers of Sylvia Sanchez, Teresa Loyzaga, Richard Reynoso, Ynez Veneracion and many more.

“Maganda naman ang plano sa akin nina Ms. Ana. Hindi lang sa singing niya nakikita ang potential ko but in acting, too. ‘Yung bida-kontrabida ang dating. Dati pa naman, I underwent na several acting workshops kaya there were times na na-try ko na rin naman ang mag-guest sa mga shows which required me to act.”

On the pipeline are revivals of some of her songs for people to remember her and appreciate.

I listened to Alynna on her Thursday gig with Jong Cuenco at the recently opened Dampa sa Greenhills owned by Andrei Barretto and his family who hails from Bacolod.

“The owners are very good friends of mine. Matagal na. Kaya now that they have this business in the heart of San Juan (along Santolan), I am helping din in my own way. So, I sing and invite friends to come and dine. Open din sa tanghali. Para ko na itong playground. And I am planning to open up my business (Beautéderm) rin here..para dito na rin my office. The one product which keeps me looking younger!

“As far as my singing is concerned, it has always been my bread and butter, ‘di ba? Ito pa rin ang priority. If I would be given an acting assignment on the side then, that’s a good add-on.

“As kontrabida, why not? If I can give another color and another take sa challenging roles then I”d be very willing to give it a shot!”

And “kahit gaano kalaki…o kaliit” for that matter, the role-what is important is to give it her best!
