TOMORROW, a new Mutya Pilipinas will be crowned at the MOA Arena.

Had the privilege to get to know one of the candidates who hails from Chicago, Illinois, USA.

Joi Rufina Longalong Hunter was crowned Mutya Pilipinas Illinois in June of this year, making her the first Chicagoan to vie in the prestigious beauty pageant spearheaded by Ms. Cory Quirino.

Joi’s Mom, Sally hails from Nueva Ecija. The reason why she’s excited also to visit the country.

The beauty who stands 5’8″ tall dabbles in modeling back in Chicago as she pursues her Nursing course as a scholar at the Purdue University in Indiana.

When not busy poring over her Medical books, Joi enjoys cooking, dancing, acting and playing tennis.

Joi is an advocate of women and LGBT empowerment where she plans to push a platform to end violence and help abused women and victims of discrimination, to find equity in all societies.

Her Mom Sally wants Joi to continue what she has started in her quaint town in San Leonardo in Nueva Ecija, to put up a school and start a livestock enterprise for her townsfolk.

“My Mom has always been the wind beneath my wings. As well as my brother, who is in Chicago but has been constantly in contact with my Mom. Wherever I go, she will always be there. I am having the fun of my life discovering things with the rest of the candidates. It has been a very busy and loaded month. We are all looking forward to share the best that we can be come pageant night! This is an opportunity of a lifetime!”

Share Number 18, Joi’s wonderful journey and pray that she makes her dreams come true!

IN an interview recently, actor or former actor Diether Ocampo has got his way of giving back to society by helping the orphans of our soldiers through the Hero Foundation.

The reason he is holding his Cockatoo Polo Copa (Cup) Charity Games 2019 for the benefit of these orphans.

“I have been doing this polo match yearly. Through a very good friend, four years ago when I visited his home, meron siyang pet na cockatoo.

There is freedom to dream.

To raise funds for the education of these kids is first and foremost Diether’s advocacy now.

How is Polo played?

It is a game played on horseback between two teams of four players, each who use mallets with long, flexible handles to drive a wooden ball down a grass field and between two goal posts. It is said to be the oldest of equestrian sports. (Britannica.com)
