FOR the first time in her showbiz career, singer-actress Maris Racal stars in a movie (in a lead role) titled “I’m Ellenya L“. The said movie was produced by Spring Films (Kimi Dora, Kita Kita), N2 Productions, and Cobalt Entertainment; and it’ll be joining this year’s Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.

The film follows the simple but ambitious 21-year-old Ellenya Lakampati (played by Maris) on her quest to become the next big vlogger.

On most days, Ellenya spends her time patterning her online presence on her celebrity idol (with the special participation of Sue Ramirez playing herself). Luckily, her musician father Daddy Toots (Gio Alvarez) is there to support her. Even if it means climbing on a roof to get that perfect “drone shot.”

Her best friend, talented photographer and literal boy-next-door, Peng (Iñigo Pascual) is also always there. Even though, frankly, he has become quite wary of Ellenya’s obsession with image she projects online.

In an age where everyone is an influencer, what does it take to be “insta-famous?” Are “likes” and “follows” all that really matters nowadays?

Aside from Gio Alvarez, Sue Ramirez, Patrick Sugui, Iñigo Pascual, and Maris Racal. the film also stars Nova Villa, Francine Prieto, and the promising character actress and social media sensation, Kat Galang.

“I’m Ellenya L.” is the directorial debut of actor-producer Boy 2 Quizon. Quizon is best known for comedy roles and being part of the hit show “Bubble Gang” for more than 10 years. This, however, isn’t the director’s first foray working behind-the-scenes in films. Quizon previously produced hits such as “10,000 Hours”, “Camp Sawi”, “Sid and Aya”, and “Ulan”.

“I’m Ellenya L.” will be hitting theaters nationwide on September 13 as part of the 2019 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
