FOND of cooking?

That is what US-based Joel Villaruel‘s reason for putting up RBiel’s Bistro along Congressional Avenue in Quezon City is about.

“I am from the province of Quezon. Kaya ‘yung mga niluluto ko eh, ang mga natutunan ko rin from my mother.

“When my wife and I lived in the US, ipi agluto ko sila ng laing. Hindi ila mahilig sa gulay, eh. Nung matikman nila, pati ng mga kaibigan namin, sila na nga ang nagsabi na dapat mag-put up na ako ng restaurant.

“Kaya naman naisip ko na dito magbukas. kung sa US kasi, maraming pagdaaanan. and besides, mga Ameicans ang magiging kliyente ko and hindi naman sila familiar sa klase ng ma pagkain natin. Mahirap din.”

Because he has other businesses in the Philippines, he comes to his country four times a week.

“Bukod sa RBiel’s, meron din akong munting Kitchenette, and an airconditioning business. in the US I am a professional electrical engineer. Marami’ng States kami na hawak na ako ang nagaasikaso sa mga pinipirmahang contracts among other things.”

We had a ball sampling all the food in the menu of RBiel’s Bistro.

The Anti-Gravity Noodles (Mami in the Air, Flying Chami, and Hanging Pancit Lucban); Pinangat/Baked Laing, Salpicao, Kangkong/Tuyo Pasta, Hot Seafoods Marinara, Carbonara, Spaghetti, Ensaladang Mangga.

Cozy and affordable.

Try it out and make it your new watering hole. There is nightly entertainment from Tuesday to Saturday.

Sir Joel is a cool Boss.

“A way of giving back. Galing din kami sa wala. Dito, gusto ko na mahalin nila ang trabaho nila. Kaya I provided a housing for the staff para ang sweldo nila eh, maipin din nila. Ang Sunday, closed kami. Bale off nila ‘yun and that is also their time na mag-enjoy sa restaurant para hindi na rin sila lalabas at pupunta sa kung saan pa para mag-enjoy.”

The new RBiel’s Bistro stands on the former 18th Congress Restaurant.

“I changed the name. Sa initials ng wife and children ko.”

Sir Joelnis flying back to Buena Park to take care of his other businesses.

“Pagbalik ko, aasikasuhin ko ang isa pang restaurant where ang theme naman is a Gallery Restaurant. To help our artists na gustong magkaroon din ng venue to sell their works. Mahilig talaga ako sa works of art. I buy s lot of paintings. And we have a lot of very good painyers around.”
